ABOUT VANESSA GREENWAY
I am a certified Pilates and GYROTONIC® instructor, movement educator and performer and have been teaching since 2007. I hold certifications from the PhysicalMind Institute, The Pilates Method Alliance, the Center for Women’s Fitness™ (Pre and Post-Natal Pilates Certified) and have additional specialized Pilates training in gait analysis and function, Pilates rehabilitation protocols for hip replacement, Lauren Ohayon's Restore Your Core® method, and Katy Bowman's Move Your DNA workshops through Nutritious Movement®. I'm a Level 1and Level 2 certified GYROTONIC® instructor with specialized training on the GYROTONER® and GYROTONIC® Applications for the Pelvic Girdle (using the Gyrotonic method to aid in the rehabilitation process associated with injuries affecting the lumbar spine, pelvis and leg axis).
I grew up in Eugene, studying theatre, dance, voice and violin and left when I was 18 to earn my BFA in Acting from the Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. My movement studies there included Feldenkrais®, Yoga, and Laban/Bartenieff movement analysis studies and began my interest in movement as a therapeutic practice. I lived and worked in Chicago for 24 years, where I was a professional actor and taught movement at Chicago River North Pilates, the Ray Meyer Fitness Center, and was adjunct faculty at DePaul's Theatre School, teaching the MFA Acting Graduate candidates Pilates as part of their movement program.

I moved back to Eugene in 2018 with my husband to raise our two young sons, and taught at Midtown Pilates until it closed due to the pandemic.

I am endlessly curious about how we move, how we communicate through movement, and how the experience of being in our bodies affects our world view as people. My interest in this feeds my performing work and movement career, and I am grateful to all of the students and fellow teachers I've worked with over the years for sharing my fascination and fueling it.
